How Genie uses Qloo
Genie only works because Qloo knows what people love. Without it, Genie would be a chatbot guessing. Here is what Qloo does, how well it covered our tests, and what happens when it does not know something.
Three jobs
1
Understand
Every favourite a family names is looked up in Qloo’s taste graph. Its taste tags become the portrait, and each item says whether the family told us or Genie is guessing.
2
Discover
Qloo’s taste links (“people like them also love”) suggest wishes the family may not have thought of. A discovery always says it is a guess.
3
Match
Each wish is matched to Wish Makers by comparing Qloo entities and tags. Every match shows its reasons, and whether Qloo or a plain name match found it.
The Compare screen in every story puts a general AI’s wishes next to Genie’s, built from the same facts without Qloo, so you can see the difference. Every Qloo call is listed in plain language in the call log.
How well Qloo covered our tests
We tested 40 favourites: Telugu, Hindi, Urdu and Tamil film songs, Western rock and pop, K-pop, Arabic and Latin music, regional dishes, places, and films.
After our fixes, all 40 land on something true and useful: 33 exactly, 1 through another spelling, and 6 through the artist or parent. Our first automatic run scored 38 of 40, and we tightened it after a hand review found two false matches.
- Music: 21 of 23
- Film: 4 of 4
- TV: 1 of 1
- Food: 6 of 6
- Places: 6 of 6
An honest note: Qloo has artists, films and places, but not individual songs or dishes. A song is found through its artist and a dish as a taste tag, and Genie says so on screen.
When Qloo does not know
Nothing ever fails empty. Genie moves down this ladder and always tells you where an item landed.
1Exact match
The item is found in Qloo and its taste tags are used.
2Another spelling
A different spelling or script is tried (for example a transliterated name).
3One step up
A song is looked up through its artist, a dish through its cuisine, a place through its city.
4Era and place
When little is known, Qloo’s audience signals for their era and region give a starting portrait, marked as likely.
5Not in Qloo
The item is kept and labelled “Suggested by AI, not in Qloo”. It is left out of Qloo scoring.
6Qloo unavailable
A remembered answer is used if there is one. Otherwise a calm message and a retry. Never a blank screen.
What we do not claim
- The Wish Makers in this build are clearly labelled samples.
- Qloo knows songs, dishes and places. It does not know whether a home cook is good, so makers are matched through the artists, cuisines and places they connect to.
- Qloo receives the names of favourites. Genie collects no surnames, addresses, health details or ID numbers.
- Genie is not a medical service.
